India
India (Bharat), a country that occupies the greater part of South Asia. Bounded by the Indian Ocean on the south, the Arabian Sea on the southwest, and the Bay of Bengal on the southeast, it shares land borders with Pakistan to the west;`{`f`}` China, Nepal, and Bhutan to the north; and Bangladesh and Myanmar to the east. In the Indian Ocean, India is in the vicinity of Sri Lanka and the Maldives; its Andaman and Nicobar Islands share a maritime border with Thailand and Indonesia. India's capital is New Delhi, built in the 20th century just south of the historic hub of Old Delhi to serve as India’s administrative centre. With roughly one-sixth of the world’s total population, India is the second-most populous country, after China.
India is a constitutional republic with diverse multiethnicity that is home to thousands of small ethnic and tribal groups. That complexity developed from a lengthy and involved process of migration and intermarriage. Tourism in India is important for the country’s economy and is growing rapidly.
The Indian economy in 2019 was nominally worth $2.9 trillion; it is the fifth-largest economy by market exchange rates and is around $11 trillion, the third-largest by purchasing power parity. India is one of the world’s fastest-growing economies. The service sector makes up 55.6% of GDP, the industrial sector 26.3% and the agricultural sector 18.1%.
